Economic Development Committee
The terms for Seats 4, 5 and 6 on the Economic Development Committee expired December 1, 2011. Terms are for three (3) years.
The Committee shall consist of nine members who shall be appointed for staggered terms for a period of three (3) years. No fewer than five of the members shall be City residents. The membership may include designees of the Chamber of Commerce, and representatives from industry, academia, aviation, business people whose businesses are located in the downtown redevelopment district and owners of property within the downtown redevelopment district whose property is the location of a current business.
DUTIES:
To make recommendations to the City Commission for the purpose of aiding and assisting them on matters relating to community development and economic growth including, but not limited to, downtown redevelopment and the DeLand Municipal Airport and Industrial Park.
Planning Board
Shall consist of seven members who shall be residents of the City, who shall be appointed by the City Commission. The terms of the members shall be four years.
Duties: The DeLand Planning Board shall be advisory only to the City Commission when the DeLand Planning Board considers matter of planning, zoning and platting of land. The DeLand Planning Board shall also hear and decide requests for variances from the Land Development Regulations of the City of DeLand in accordance with the codes and ordinances of the City of DeLand. In deciding upon requests for variances, the decision of the DeLand Planning Board shall be final and appealed to the Circuit Court as provided for elsewhere in the City’s Charter.
