Exempt: No Reports to: Airport Manager
Hours: 20 hours per week Date: October 2011
SUMMARY: The Airport Intern will directly report to the Airport Manager and assist in the day to day operations of a medium sized General Aviation Airport. The candidate will interact with the public on regular basis and be involved in every aspect of the airport managers operation. Private Pilot License Preferred but not required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in all administrative duties including answer phones, filing, and interacting with the public.
- Assist in updating information such as airport security plans, airport emergency plans, airport website, newsletters, and any special projects assigned.
- Active involvement with lease negotiations, contract administration and management as needed.
- Pursue Noise Abatement complaints and interacting with neighboring communities through on site evaluations.
- Attend Federal, State, and City of DeLand meetings. (i.e. Airport Advisory Committee, Economic Development Committee, and CFASPP)
- Assists in the promotion, development, and marketing of the Deland Commerce Park, industrial and all other real property owned/operated by the City of DeLand.
- Assist management with frequent inspections of all physical facilities, and work on maintenance programs to ensure compliance with prescribed policies, rules and regulations governing operations of the Airport.
- Maintains positive communication and relationships with all airport users.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must be enrolled or within one (1) year of graduation at a four year accredited university with a focus in Aviation Business Administration/Management, operations or closely related field.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Internship requires no previous experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/ADA: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to work indoors or outside in various weather conditions.
