Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU)

	The DeLand Police Department 's Criminal Investigations Division is comprised of several sections. Crimes against people and property, homicide/robbery, fraud, and narcotics are a part of the general case assignments. Two support functions, Victim Advocate Services and criminal analysis, are provided by two civilian members. Responsible for the investigation of reported crimes and the collecting of testimony and other evidence for court; the members of the Criminal Investigations Division are responsible for general case assignments as well as major case specialties and crime scene processing. Although the detectives work various hours because of case assignments, the normal hours of operations are generally between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. , Monday through Friday. Members are available to speak at group meetings concerning crime prevention and property security measures when time permits.
