	City of DeLand Police e-Lerts E-Lert January 15, 2010 SUSPICIOUS PERSON   DATE:           January 15th, 2010 AUTHOR:     Sgt. Chris Jaques- Criminal Investigation Unit SUBJECT:    Suspicious Person (Special attention Daytona Beach area)   Between 01-09-10 and 01-14-10, Mark A. Patsones entered several downtown DeLand businesses claiming to have car trouble and or down and out luck with his wife and children.  Patsones would buy an item or service from the business and ask to write a personal check for an amount over what the product or service cost.  Patsones would request the extra amount to feed his kids or have his vehicle towed/fixed.  Patsones also indicated he worked in the area or was providing services for other businesses in the area.  Patsones was writing the checks on a Wachovia account with his name on the face and an address in Ponce Inlet.   This investigation is ongoing but it is believed the account does not have sufficient funds.  Patsones was being driven around by a local taxi service and his last known drop was the extended stay located in Daytona Beach.
